Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD)
Travel and Ground Transport

(Chicago, Illinois - IL, USA)

Located within the counties of both Cook and DuPage, the city of Chicago is easy to reach from O'Hare International Airport (ORD), since there is plenty of choice when it comes to affordable and reliable ground transportation.

Chicago's O'Hare Airport comes with buses, car rental companies, limousine hire, taxi cabs even train services. This means that not only can you reach the downtown district with ease, but you can also travel to many of the surrounding suburbs and Illinois towns, such as Arlington Heights, Brubank, Buffalo Grove, Downers Grove, Elgin, Evanston, Glenview, Lombard, Northbrook and Oak Park.

Train

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) runs a 24-hour train service from O'Hare Airport (ORD) into the city, which operates every ten minutes. The CTA's Blue Line travels from O'Hare to downtown Chicago, and this station can be reached by pedestrian tunnels from Terminals 1, 2 and 3.

Other surrounding areas can be reached using the blue line and transfers to more CTA stations. A large map is displayed at the entrance of the station, with all CTA lines and stops clearly shown. The blue line also provides transfers to other neighboring destinations and other CTA stations.

The Metra North Central commuter rail is accessible by riding the ATS. The train travels between Antioch and Chicago's renowned Union Station, providing a service to many areas.

Buses

The Bus / Shuttle Center at Chicago O'Hare Airport is situated on the ground floor of the elevated parking garage and is accessible by tunnels from Terminals 1, 2 and 3. This is also the pickup area for door-to-door hotel shuttles and Pace buses, as well as shuttle services for car rental agencies. This service also provides shuttles to north suburban destinations.

Continental Airport Express shuttles operate from O'Hare every 5 to 10 minutes, with tickets available at the kiosk outside of the International Terminal and at counters across from baggage claim, on the lower levels of Terminals 1, 2 and 3. Regional bus services include Act II Transportation, Coach USA, Express Air Coach, LEX Lincolnland Express and PACE Bus. Destinations include Crestwood, Davenport, Gary, Highland, Janesville, Madison, Merrillville, Michigan City, Mishawaki, Notre Dame, Portage, Rockford, South Beloit and South Bend.

For transfers to and from Midway and O'Hare International Airports, Omega Airport Shuttle provides an efficient and inexpensive service, with shuttles operating from 07:00 to 22:00 and traveling via the Interstate I-90.

Taxi Cabs

Taxis will take around 40 minutes to reach downtown Chicago. Some 20 different taxi companies serve ORD Airport, including the American United Cab Association, Blue Ribbon, Checker Taxis, Globe Taxis, King Drive, 24 Seven, Wolley Cabs and Yellow Cabs. For something with a little more 'class', limousines can also be arranged, with a list of contact details being display close to the information booths, on the lower level on the terminals.
